make a difference!
Five years ago my family began a tradition that I want to share and spread to kids everywhere. We had our 13th birthday party just like many kids, but we did something different. I asked the guests not to bring any gifts, but rather a monetary donation to be given to the charity that I had chosen. The response was incredible, both from parents and kids. It was easier than buying a present and everyone felt better about the donation they had made. It was a win-win situation. I was able to raise over $800 for the Aflac Cancer Center; an organization close to my heart. My best friend, Mary Sloane, was a patient there and I wanted to help. When else can a teenager make such a difference?
